I purchased my last home 2 years ago in May. I was referred to our loan officer Craig Ballhagen through my father, Mike McLaughlin. I knew that if my Dad was willing to refer Craig, that he had already been through a thorough battery of questions and interrogations regarding his personal and professional integrity. It had also helped that I had already become aquainted with Craig as he had made many trips to our home to assist my parents in obtaining the correct paperwork and signatures for their loan.

I would just like to let any first time home buyers who may be reading this blog and thinking about taking the step to home ownership know that you certainly want Craig by your side. Craig was recommended to my wife and I by a co-worker who had worked with Craig in the past. A year prior to meeting with Craig we had met with another mortgage broker and were so put off by his pushy approach that we stop the whole process dead in its tracks. This year when we decided we want to take advantage of the tax credit and were ready to start looking at houses again the first thing we did was meet with Craig. What a change from our first experience! Craig really knows what he is talking about and we felt he genuinely had our best interests at heart, he listened to what we wanted to achieve in home ownership and he made it happen. Craig stayed in close contact with us all the home searching and when we found the home of our dreams in short sale Craig and the Guild team were extremely fast in putting everything together and were able to respond to the previous loan holders requests in most cases on the same day.

The result was a closing on a short sale home in almost half the time others were taking and the help we had along the way from Craig outstanding. I would recommend Craig and the Guild team to my closest friends and family, and have.

We were trying to get a home loan through a local bank and were told one hour before our scheduled closing that they were not going to fund.
