Boise Idaho-Are You Acting Rich When You Are Not

mortgage idahoHow many people are living beyond their means?  How close are people to filing bankruptcy? Far too many are just a paycheck away.

According to Dr. Thomas Stanley, the author of “Stop Acting Rich,” most millionaires are millionaires because they live frugal lives. They have been saving money their entire lives.   The majority of millionaires don’t live in million-dollar homes or drive top-of-the-line luxury cars.

Any idiot can spend money.   It takes planning and discipline to save for the future.

How will the epitaph of a wasteful person read? “Here lies someone who drove a “Beamer” and lived in a house much bigger than he (or she) really needed.”  Nobody cares what you drive or where you live.

Being in the mortgage business, I see quite a few credit reports.  Many young people have account after account from stores like Pottery Barn, Macy’s, as well as several jewelry stores.  It’s all about the “bling.”  How much is enough?

If we don’t know how to budget, how can our children learn? We have become a “credit-card” nation, and this vicious cycle must stop NOW!

Show me a household that is upside down and I will show you a family without a budget.  Everyone should have six months’ cash reserves to get them through the tough times and hold them over until another job can be found.

When a family spends their hard-earned money on non-essential items (i.e. junk), it is no wonder the mortgage payment comes up short.

Take control, set a budget, and get rid of those accounts that mean NOTHING!

News From “The Daily Beast” for Boise Idaho

Obama Sets Dec. 1 Troop Deadline-read more about this article at NPR

Home sales may have risen in October, but this ought to damp any celebration: The proportion of U.S. homeowners who owe more than their homes are worth rose to 23 percent. With nearly 10.7 million households having negative equity in their homes in the third quarter, a sustained housing recovery is unlikely. Economists from J.P. Morgan Chase said on Monday that they don’t expect the housing market to bottom out until 2011.

Something for the banks to give thanks for: Bloomberg reports that the Federal Reserve has asked Bank of America and eight other banks to give plans including timetables for the repayment of TARP funds. It’s a sign that that the banks have been able to raise equity and exceed the capital buffers set for them in the stress tests. The nine banks that have yet to pay back TARP funds, which also include Citigroup and Wells Fargo, received about $142 billion in bailout money.
